Frame Tag Tutorial

This is a pretty simple tag tutorial and should be easy to follow.
However; you’ll need some experience using Paint Shop Pro.

Here’s the sort of tag we’ll be making:

For this tag challenge you’ll need the following:

1. a flower photo
2. a rectangle shaped mask
3. a background image that matches your flower (you’ll need this to create your frame)

Now let’s get started:

Open PaintShop Pro.
Create a new layer that measures 800 x 800 in pixels.
Open your flower photo.
Resize to 600 (width) in pixels.
Copy and close photo.
Paste as new layer.
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask From Disk (screen shot below)

Click the Load button after you’ve found your mask to use.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
Disable this layer.
Move the bottom layer to top.

How to make the frame:

Open background image and resize to 500 pixels in width.
Image, Canvas Size and resize to 500 width x 325 height in pixels.
Copy and close background image.
Paste into top layer.
Selections, Select All and Invert Selection.
Selections, Modify and Contract by 8 pixels.
Hit Delete.
Duplicate layer twice which will give you 3 layers.

Go to the very bottom frame layer.
Image, Rotate, Free Rotate (Direction) LEFT and (Degrees) 5.00 (screen shot below).
Selections, Select All, Float.

Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (screen shot below).

Move Up 1 layer to the next frame.
Image, Rotate, Free Rotate (Direction) RIGHT and (Degrees) 5.00.

Selections, Select All, Float.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (screen shot above).

Move Up 1 layer to top frame.
Selections, Select All, Float.
Effects, 3d effects, and add a drop shadow; color #000000 (screen shot above).
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

You should now have only 2 layers with the bottom layer still disabled.
Un-disable the bottom layer so all layers are showing.
Got to top layer and move the frame around so it fits nicely above your flower photo.
When you’ve got everything the way you like,
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

Using your Magic Wand, click anywhere on the blank space outside of the frame (screen shot below):

Image, invert selection, crop to selection.
Save your tag as a transparent png so you can open it later to add some text to it.
You’re done!

Tag Tutorials

So, I’m sitting here going through all my posts and just realized that I no longer have any of my tag tutorials added here. Not sure how that happened, lol. Anyway, I thought I would add the 2 that I created awhile back. I don’t really do that many tag tutorials because first, I really don’t have the time and second, it seems rather boring to me, lol. So, there’s that.

Anyway, I will be adding those 2 tag tuts here today and hopefully someone might find them useful. And who knows, if you actually like my tag tutorials and let me know about them by leaving a comment here at my site, I might actually create more. You never know. Anything is possible, lol.

Thanks for stopping by and hugs, Mod Girl.

Cutting Back on Groups

So, I love making tags. But you know, sometimes you can get burned out doing the same things over and over again. And sometimes you need to step back, take a breath and do something else for a change. Summer time has always been hectic around my house. There are so many things to keep you occupied and most people would rather be outside than stuck in the house sitting in front of a computer screen all day. So, anyway. I’m stepping back from all my online groups except for my tag group, where I offer tags to members.

One of the members in my groups will be taking over the groups for awhile until I can decide if I want to come back or not. And I told her that if I don’t come back after summer is over that she can do whatever she wants with the groups. I’m getting older and other things are keeping me busy and there are so many things that I want to do but I’ve been putting them off because I’ve been so busy with my online groups. And besides, when you have a group full of members and those members don’t want to share or participate in the groups, it can become disheartening to want to keep a group open all the time.

And you know that’s something I’ve never understood either. I mean why even join a group if all your going to do is just sit there and do nothing? It just doesn’t make any sense to me. But I guess like me, everyone else gets too busy with real life and don’t have the time to do anything either. But then I think to myself, well if I can share then why can’t they? Yeah, I know.

Anyway. I just wanted to update you on my online groups and to let you know that I’m stepping back from them for awhile and we will see how that goes. Thanks for stopping by and hugs,
